Defining Masculinity & Femininity
Defining masculinity and femininity is challenging because these concepts are socially constructed and dependent on layperson perceptions. They are complex and can vary across time, cultures, and individuals. Additionally, defining masculinity and femininity often imposes a binary gender dichotomy, ignoring those who do not identify as strictly male or female. In this project, we aim to develop more inclusive and generalizable definition of masculinity and femininity, which separates them from binary gender identity and allows for multi-faceted measures and constructs.
